JEAN PAUL GAULTIER HAUTE COUTURE Le Smoking black and white set, including bodysuit, pants and black silk coat, circa 2015 A black and white Le Smoking ensemble, circa 2015 Lace label, the white tuxedo body with satin shawl collar, silk voile side panels, bust 86cm 34in; the black high waisted trousers with double-pleats to front, waist 66cm 26in; the black silk kimono-inspired coat with brown satin batwing sleeves, outsized (3) 'Confessions of a Child of the Century' is a novel by the French poet Alfred de Musset written in 1836 which was turned into a film in 2012 starring Charlotte Gainsbourg in the main role as George Sand with Pete Doherty as the poet. Gaultier saw a screening at the Cannes Film Festival, loved it and used it as the main inspiration for this collection. The early looks in the show are gender fluid to reflect the George Sands character.
