A "miroir de sorcière" silver and 18K gold ring, by Violaine Febvret Violaine Febvret by Naïla de Monbrison A graduate in art history, sculptor and decorator, Violaine's vision of jewelry is both intellectual and sensual. Her well-thought-out jewels are simple yet sophisticated constructions. A fan of geometric shapes, she plays with rounds, squares, pyramids, hexagons, hollows and bumps. "A poet of metal, Violaine Febvret is a woman of gold and silver. She never tires of talking about metals, their immense strength and, at the same time, their extreme fragility. Silver is capricious, a little too soft, while gold bends to the goldsmith's every desire. "You have to listen to them, not rough them up too much, because you can spoil everything very quickly." It's an exercise in which she excels: she has the gift of conjuring marvels out of these materials. ..." (Le Nouvel Observateur 2006) Françoise Mallet-Joris wrote (Le Figaro Magazine 2003): "I have the feeling, with Violaine Febvret, of going back to something more fundamental than classicism. Her jewelry carry a need for origin, although they exclude any reminder of history, or prehistory, which are cumbersome things. It's a shadowless origin, like an unvarnished smile. She never tires of describing metals their immense strength and, at the same time, their extreme fragility. Silver is capricious, a little too soft; gold bends to all the desires of the jeweler. One must listen to them, not be too rough, because everything can be ruined very quickly. This is an exercise in which she excels: she has the gift of bringing forth wonders from these materials...". *Le Nouvel Observateur*, 2006 Françoise Mallet-Joris wrote: "With Violaine Febvret, I feel as if I am reaching something more fundamental than classicism. Her jewelry carries an essential originality, though it excludes any reference to history or prehistory, which can feel heavy. It is an origin without shadow, like a smile without makeup." *Le Figaro Magazine*, 2003 Bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings her work always reflects the fundamentals of Violaine Febvret's artistic vision.
