VENTE REGARDS CROISES SUR LE XXE SIECLE : THE COLLECTION OF A PASSIONATE ENTREPRENEUR
The December 16 sale features a private collection assembled over several decades by a demanding collector with an eclectic taste. The collection reflects a highly personal view of the 20th century, boldly combining furniture from the 40s and 50s, modern art, design and collectibles from the 30s (glassware, ceramics, silverware). It brings together major figures in post-war abstract painting-Riopelle, Bazaine, Atlan-while also leaving room for more classical works-Gromaire and Hélion. The decorative arts occupy a prominent place, represented by an exceptional group of neoclassical furniture from the 1940s-1950s: André Arbus, Gilbert Poillerat, as well as Jacques Adnet, Maurice Dufrêne and Jean Pascaud. This furniture collection was guided by an encounter in the 1990s with Yves Gastou, a renowned gallery owner and passionate furniture designer. This collector was lucky enough to discover pieces that are now particularly rare on the market. Sculpture is also at the heart of this collection, with a fine array of works in bronze, wood and marble by singular artists such as Anton Prinner, Wang Keping and Josette Hébert-Coeffin. Finally, this collection also stands out for a freer, more contemporary approach, with a selection of emblematic works of design: Yonel Lebovici, Garouste et Bonetti, Ettore Sottsass, Guy de Rougemont, Ado Chale.
