HERMÈS X HIROSHI SUGIMOTO - Lot 166
HERMÈS X HIROSHI SUGIMOTO Châle en soie, collection limitée, 2012 A silk shawl, 2012 A limited edition 'Couleurs de l'Ombre 118, no 3 of 7, Approx 140 x 140 cm Since 2008, under the leadership of Pierre-Alexis Dumas, Hermès' artistic director, the house has launched a series of silk scarves in collaboration with international artists, blending textile innovation with contemporary creation. In 2012, photographer Hiroshi Sugimoto contributed his vision with Couleurs de l'ombre, a work where his pursuit of light and depth merges with silk, embodying his minimalist and poetic universe. This project joins iconic pieces such as Hommage au carré (Greek Island) (2008), inspired by Joseph Albers, and Daniel Buren's Photo-souvenir au carré (2010). Known for his timeless and refined imagery, Sugimoto explores the subtleties of shadow and color, elevated by Hermès' craftsmanship. A collaboration that embodies boldness and excellence, where art and craftsmanship harmoniously converge.
