JEAN PAUL GAULTIER HAUTE COUTURE Ensemble comprenant un manteau et une combinaison pantalon en laine et soie, inspiration bretonne, collection « Paris-Brest », Automne/Hiver 2015-16 A Breton-inspired wool coat and silk jumpsuit ensemble, 'Paris-Brest' collection, Autumn-Winter 2015-16 Lace labels, look 7, comprising: a blue felted wool coat with ribbed velvet collar and yoke, embroidered in gold silk threads with traditional Breton folk designs, trimmed in black velvet, lined in Breton-striped silk, chest 112cm 44in; a bronze silk jumpsuit with cuffed hems, bust 84cm 33in (2) Gaultier's love of Brittany and its culture is well recorded, especially his use of the Breton stripe which was used with aplomb throughout his career. However, in this look Gaultier delved deeper into the folk dress of Brittany taking inspiration from the Bragou-Braz style jacket with its distinctive yellow embroidery which was worn on high days and holidays by men in the Bigouden region of France.
