HERMÈS BY MARTIN MARGIELA Pair of brown leather shoes, Fall-Winter 1998-1999 Black crepe soles Brand logo on the insoles Size 38.5 approx. Dust bag and box THE HERMÈS SHOE 1998 “For my first Fall-Winter 1998-1999 collection, I focused on comfort. At the time, Pierre Hardy had created a sneaker called ‘Quick,’ which I incorporated into my designs. But I also wanted a heeled version, for a different look. The idea was to design a pump that captured the spirit of the Hermès sneaker. I opted for crepe soles and a sturdy heel.” Martin Margiela A similar model is reproduced in: - Exhibition catalog “Margiela, The Hermès Years,” MoMu, Antwerp, March–August 2017, p. 50 Provenance: From the wardrobe of Martin Margiela’s mother, Léa Bouchet A pair of brown leather shoes, Fall-Winter 1998-1999 Black crepe soles Stamped on insoles Size approx. 38.5 Dust bags and box HERMÈS SHOE 1998 "For my first collection of AW 98-99, I focused on comfort.
