HERVE VAN DER STRAETEN Brooch in gilded metal, by Hervé van der Straeten Circular in shape, featuring a stylized radiating motif, composed of multiple tapered stems, stamped Van Der Straeten, diameter: 8.5 cm. A gold metal pins by Hervé van der Straeten. Hervé Van der Straeten is a French designer born in 1965 and trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was soon noticed for his sculptural jewelry with bold, graphic forms, which already laid the foundations for his artistic language. Early in his career, he collaborated with major fashion houses such as Jean Paul Gaultier, Yves Saint Laurent and Dior, before gradually extending his design to furniture, mirrors and lighting. In 1999, he opened his own gallery in the Marais district of Paris, where he presents one-off pieces and limited series. He then developed his own bronze and cabinet-making workshops, asserting his total artistic independence and high standards of craftsmanship. His work, marked by hybridity of form, contrast and a strong sculptural presence, quickly won him over. His works are notably included in the collections of the Mobilier National and the Musée des Arts Décoratifs. Awarded the "Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant" label in 2007 and named Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 2008, Hervé Van der Straeten has established himself as a major figure in contemporary French design.
