A 'Ondas' in 18K yellow gold, forming a wave ring, by Chelo Sastre.
Chelo Sastre, born in Barcelona in 1944, is a singular figure in contemporary Spanish jewelry. Trained at the Massana school, she soon developed a personal approach, nourished by collaborations with the fashion world, notably with couturier Antonio Miró. Her work is distinguished by a particular focus on the relationship between jewelry and the body. Since the late 1970s, she has designed pieces that harmoniously embrace anatomical forms, in a quest for balance and precision. This approach gives rise to creations with sober, organic lines, where the jewel seems a natural extension of the gesture or drawing sketched on the skin. At the same time, Chelo Sastre draws inspiration from the history of art. Some of her collections pay tribute to great figures such as Diego Velázquez or Joan Miró, translating emblematic pictorial references into volume and material. Distributed internationally and present in a variety of contexts, from the art scene to live performance, his works testify to a language that is at once free, intuitive and rigorously mastered. Her approach, at the crossroads of drawing, the body and the object, places her work firmly in the field of contemporary auteur jewelry.
