Casati owned a pretty Trianon-inspired palace in Le Vesinet on the outskirts of Paris. Her penchant for neo-Versailles decoration was reflected in eight mainly white daywear looks inspired by porcelain shepherdesses and named after 'sugary Marquises'. Of Caen-lace, damask silk and strapwork, they were accessorised with ropes of pearls and beaded chokers with painted floral Sevres style cameos by Goosens The gowns were worn with a mixture of flirty 30s inspired jackets (lotus line) and knee length skirts with flounced hems worn with late 18th century style court coats, or skirts with 'suivez-moi jeune homme' trains that could be looped over the arm. The attention to detail is illustrated by the individually hand embroidered buttons. Provenance : The Mouna Ayoub Collection Images All rights reserved
