Set of three polychrome painted enamel plaques with gold highlights depicting three scenes from the life of Christ, the Kiss of Judas, the Washing of the Feet and Pilate Washing his Hands Limoges, after Dürer's Petite Passion (1509-1511), mid-16th century The counter-glaze of each plate with a paper label indicating a number: the Kiss of Judas with number 22, the Washing of the feet with number 20 and Pilate washing his hands with number 28; set in a copper frame decorated with florets, certainly made by the Maison André. 14.3 x 11.5 cm With frame 16 x 13 cm Provenance: In the same French collection since the 1970s, then by descent to the current owner. Our plates were to be part of a complete set depicting scenes from the Passion of Christ for an altarpiece. Nine plates similar to our three were sold at Fraysse et Associé on May 5, 2010 (lots 18 to 26), and at one time probably formed part of the same set with the plates here.
