Paul CHOCARNE-MOREAU (1855-1930) - Lot 15
Paul CHOCARNE-MOREAU (1855-1930) The Portrait of the Chimney Sweep, 1904 Oil on canvas Signed and dated upper right 41.5 x 33.3 cm Paul Chocarne-Moreau was a French painter born in Dijon in 1855 and died in 1930. One of his favorite themes was childhood in the streets of Paris. He portrayed them with great tenderness and a touch of humor, in energetic scenes of mischievous, resourceful boys caught pilfering sweets or playing pranks on priests and bourgeois. These lively, expressive pictures capture the mischievousness of childhood. This lot can be viewed by appointment at our offices at 60 rue la Boétie until Tuesday June 17 inclusive.
