Ronan & Erwan BOUROULLEC (born 1971 and 1976) Daybed, Safe rest model, designed in 1999 Black lacquered tubular steel structure covered with white cashmere Edition Domeau et Pérès 55 x 254 x 73.5 cm Similar model in the CNAP Collections, France Bibliography: Similar model (other finishes) reproduced in: - Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Phaidon, Paris, 2003, p. 32-33 - Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec, Travaux, Phaidon, Paris, 2013, p. 294 "'The Safe Rest' is a rest bed that exists in double depth. The principle is very simple. The structure is formed by two curved tubes that shape the profile. These tubes are connected by perpendicular crosspieces. The whole is covered with a blanket that folds under the armchair. The cover is strapped and stretched like a corset. The cover is a sewn sandwich, made of tarpaulin for the underside and foam and wool sheeting for the top. The seams, parallel lines spaced five centimetres apart, have a structural role."
