Ses mensurations ont été prises dans l'atelier du Nordiska Kompaniet (connu sous le nom de NK) et envoyées à Paris. La robe a été livrée en décembre de la même année, juste à temps pour le réveillon du Nouvel An. This romantic dress a has a fairytale provenance. It belonged to the beautiful Swedish Baroness Suzanne Palmstierna , who won it as a raffle prize at a Dior Gala she attended in aid of the Red Cross and Save the Children, held at the Grand Hotel Royal in Sweden in the Autumn of 1950. The winner could choose any of the gowns on display and this incredible lace confection was her choice. The cost of the dress at the time was 375,000 SEK, a small fortune at the time. Her measurements were taken in the Nordiska Kompaniet atelier (known as NK) and sent to Paris for her own version of the dress to be made. It was delivered in December that year - just in time for New Years Eve. With her blonde good looks - wearing this fairytale shimmering lace dress, her photograph featured in magazine and news reports of the day. Since then the dress has been treasured by the family and was recently exhibited in the 'Paris of the North - Nordiska Kompaniet French Couture Atelier 1902-1966' exhibition at The Nordiska museet, Stockholm, Sweden Sep 17, 2021 - Oct 1, 2023. A version of this dress was worn by Marlene Dietrich in Alfred Hitchcock's "Stage Fright" in 1950. CONDITION REPORT Bodice is perspiration stained at the underarms and the lace in these areas has been stained and or replaced. The upper edging ruffle has been added to conceal the damage to the original upper edge . Ruffles to bodice neckline are of original matching lace, but are not original to the dress, some of the bodice pleats have come out, the fabric has yellowed in places - noticeably the bodice back and waistline. The hem is slightly soiled generally with occasional stains. The belt shows some signs of yellowing in places with some minor wear around the closure - the lining is disintegrating. Lace has split aprox 4cm to skirt at back closure - easily repairable and the top press stud where it has been damaged has been pulled off. The top hook form the bodice closure has come off.
