Gunnel SAHLIN (née en 1954) pour KOSTA BODA - Lot 9
Gunnel SAHLIN (née en 1954) pour KOSTA BODA Vase Circa 1990 In blue-tone glass Signed and numbered under the base Edition Kosta Boda Publisher's label H. 33.5 cm (1) A vase by Gunnel Sahlin for Kosta Boda - Gunnel Sahlin (born in 1954) is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Swedish glass. She has designed artistic glass pieces for Kosta-Boda and Åfors since the 1980s. Gunnel's works can be found at the National Museum of Art and Design in Sweden. Kosta Glasbruk, later known as Kosta Boda, is a Swedish glassworks company founded by two former generals of the royal army, Anders Koskull and Georg Bogislaus Staël von Holstein, in 1742. Easily recognizable, Swedish glassware for the table and home produced by Kosta Boda, the oldest glassworks in the country, has always been one or two steps ahead of the others: sturdy yet whimsical, youthful and spirited, highly colorful. Its qualities are owed to the exceptional technical skills of its glassblowers, the collaboration between artists, and the unique craftsmanship found nowhere else in the world. Kosta Boda has successfully set itself apart from its many competitors by employing its own designers such as Gunnel Sahlin, Kjell Engman, Anna Ehren, and Ann Walström.
