She has been designing art glass pieces for Kosta-Boda and Åfors since the 1980s. Gunnel's work can be seen at the Swedish National Museum of Art and Design. Kosta Glasbruk, later known as Kosta Boda, is a Swedish glass company founded by two former Royal Army generals, Anders Koskull and Georg Bogislaus Staël von Holstein in 1742. Swedish table and household glass from Kosta Boda's factories, the oldest in the country, has always been a step or two ahead of the rest: solid yet whimsical, young yet witty, colorful, it owes its qualities to the highly technical skills of its master glassmakers, to the relationship between the artists and to the know-how, unique in the world. Kosta Boda has succeeded in setting itself apart from its many competitors by employing its own designers, such as Gunnel Sahlin, Kjell Engman, Anna Ehren and Ann Walström. - Gunnel Sahlin (born in 1954) is one of the most prominent figures in contemporary Swedish glass.
