Paul COLLET (1889-1952)
Chair, Stabila model Created in 1927 One-piece metal frame, wood and tan leather Stamp of the editor in Stabila - Magny en Vexin 76,5 x 40 x 51 cm A chair by Paul Collet Often misattributed to Armand-Albert Rateau, these chairs are produced in Magny-en-Vexin by Paul Collet. Paul Collet patented the Stabila chair in 1927. The principle is still the same: a one-piece metal frame forms the basis of the seat. With this system he manufactures several models, from the typist's chair to the high stool. It met with great success but was soon confronted with financial difficulties due to poor management which made it fall into oblivion until the recent rehabilitation work carried out by Brigitte Durieux, furniture expert and journalist. The leather used on this chair is the same as that used on Louis Vuitton trunks.
