The Acetate London', 1953-54 L'Acetate London', 1953-54 an album containing 30 photographs, mainly Bradford & Perrier and Celanese Corp of America, some with swatches and descriptions from couturiers including Digby Morton, Peter Russell, John Cavanagh, Michael of Lachasse, Ronald Paterson, Charles Creed, Norman Hartnell, Michael Sherard, Jacques Griffe, Sybil Connolly, Pertegaz, Alan Graham of Paquin, Germaine Lecomte, Madeleine de Rauch, Bruyere, Jacques Heim, Marc Bohan, Jean Desses, Jacques Fath, Jean Patou, and Giovanelli Sciarra Provenance : The Monika Gottlieb Collection Bradford & Perrier was directed by the textile industrialist Robert Perrier (1898-1987), who was the head of this international house since 1941 and was one of the foremost couture fabric suppliers of his time, his textiles even being worn by her majesty the Queen. He rejuvenated his father's traditional Lyonese fabric business by pioneering artificial silks in the post-war era and getting couturiers to accept alternatives to Lyon silk. Perrier launched some of the most significant innovations in synthetic and rayon fibers of the 1950s and 1960s: Celanese, Acetate and Tricel, introducing them transatlantically. This album is a testament to the use of modern artificial fibers in the field of post-war couture, which is one of Perrier's greatest accomplishments during his successful career.
